The Reed

Latin name: Arundo
The reed is an aquatic plant, living in humid areas. The giant reed, which come from Mediterranean area, is today cultivated all around the world. It can grow until 5 meters high in dense tufts. Its stems are hollow.

-Healing

Dry roots are available in most of pharmacies. It's used for its toning properties in all the digestive system.

-Physical uses

Reed is use to elaborate the reeds for musical instruments. It's also useful to weave basket making, or to make brooms.
In the past, people weaved it and putted in the ground when it was too much muddy.
In Peru, on Titicaca like, people use reeds to make boats, houses, and a lot of everyday items.
Thanks to its hollow stems, reed was use very often to create musical instruments.
